What is the refutation against someone who believes that the intellect is sufficient for contemplation and derivation of evidence from the Quran and Sunnah, and there is no need to refer to scholars?

The statement that God created a mind for humans that enables them to dispense with asking scholars is a mistaken one. A sound mind calls for consulting specialists in every field, so why should Islamic law deviate from this principle? Allah Almighty has commanded us to ask the people of remembrance and warned against speaking about Him without knowledge. The abundance of ignorance and misguidance results from the speech of those who do not know. Let the Muslim beware of these شبهات (misconceptions/doubts) that diminish the status of scholars.
