What is the ruling on hanging colorful ribbons, electric lights, and Ramadan lanterns during the month of Ramadan?

There is no harm in using Ramadan lanterns and decorations if they are free of unlawful elements such as music, extravagance, and wastefulness, and if they are solely for the purpose of showing joy and adornment, not for worship.
