A believer must strive, work, and exert effort in seeking provision. An example of this is Mary, peace be upon her, who was commanded to shake the trunk of the palm tree so that ripe dates would fall upon her, which indicates her adoption of means. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be keen on that which benefits you, and seek help from Allah and do not be helpless."
