An emotional relationship between a man and a non-mahram woman is impermissible, because it is a gateway to evils and a temptation from Satan. It must be severed, and one must repent. The conditions for a valid marriage are: the permission of the guardian (wali) and the presence of witnesses. The guardians are the father, then those who follow him in precedence. The witnesses must be two legally competent, Muslim, upright men. Otherwise, leave her and seek someone else, for women are many. The fact that a woman is divorced does not prevent marrying her, and a good intention does not legitimize a bad deed.
