Is it permissible to raise the sound of the Qur'an to drown out the loud and offensive music and songs of Christian neighbors?

It is not permissible to raise the volume of a Quranic recitation recording to intermingle with the sound of music, as this constitutes a desecration of the Glorious Quran. Scholars disliked recitation in marketplaces where people are shouting and selling and do not listen; this is due to the desecration involved. The Quran should not be used as a means to antagonize neighbors or to cover up the sound of music.
