Is it obligatory to emancipate a prayer or a kaffarah for the last days of a deceased father's life who was ill with a stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure?

Reciting the Quran is a purely physical act of worship for which it is not permissible to take payment on behalf of the deceased, nor is it permissible to give payment to someone who recites. There is no reward in this case, and both the one who takes the payment and the one who gives it are sinful. Acts of worship are based on prohibition; they should not be performed unless there is a legitimate religious proof.

What is prescribed is to supplicate for the deceased and to give charity on their behalf. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a person dies, all his deeds cease except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who supplicates for him."
