Was the prayer of the deceased's father valid, and what is incumbent upon his heirs to expiate on his behalf, knowing that he suffered from severe urinary incontinence, found it difficult to change his clothes and purify his body, and sometimes refrained from praying in the hospital, making up for it later?

We ask Allah to forgive your father and to console you well. We hope that the cause of his death was martyrdom for him, and that his worship was a reason for Allah's mercy and his entry into Paradise. Prayer is a great matter, and it is not permissible to neglect it as long as a person is of sound mind. It must be performed in the best way possible. We hope that your father performed the prayers he missed in the hospital, and that he purified himself with water (wudu') or dry ablution (tayammum) and prayed as best as he could. His prayers are valid, Allah willing, for "religion is ease, and hardship brings facilitation." You should supplicate for him, seek forgiveness for him, give charity on his behalf, fulfill his will, honor his friends, and maintain ties of kinship. Indeed, when a person dies, his deeds cease except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him.
