Does the excessive financial burden borne by a young man for marriage, such as buying and furnishing an apartment, and paying a dowry (mahr) and a wedding gift (shabka), while the woman's role is weak despite the equality of rights and duties, and her demanding of the deferred dowry, alimony, and divorce expenses upon separation, align with the Almighty's saying: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity"? And are both genders held accountable in the same way?

A woman is like a man in the fundamental aspects of religious obligation, accountability, and recompense, due to the generality of Allah's saying: "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." However, the man is favored over her with qawamah (guardianship/maintainership), which is commensurate with his nature, and Allah is Wise in His legislation. Islam is innocent of what people have innovated in terms of exaggerating dowries and excessively accumulating furniture. A woman has responsibilities that are proportionate to her nature, such as raising children and taking care of the marital home.
