Is diversifying one's attire to adapt to others considered hypocrisy or "playing all sides"?

A Muslim must remain steadfast in obeying Allah's commands and adhering to the religion, neither abandoning obligations nor falling into forbidden acts. All types of clothing are permissible except what has been prohibited, such as silk for men, or clothing that imitates disbelievers or women, or clothing that is excessively long out of pride, or clothing that describes or reveals the 'awrah. Beware of associating with the wicked, for it hardens the heart and leads to heedlessness. Instead, associate with the righteous, for character is contagious and a companion influences. Allah says: "Close friends on that Day will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A person is upon the religion of his intimate friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends." Strive to reform yourself and strengthen your faith.
