Is zakat obligatory on the assets of a person who intends to marry, has debts and investments in shares, some of which are suspended from trading, in addition to possessing cash amounts and a monthly salary? And should the income-generating debt amount be taken into account, as well as the fate of the suspended share, or is zakat waived for him?

Zakat becomes obligatory on wealth if it reaches the nisab (minimum threshold), and a full lunar year (hawl) passes over it without its value decreasing below the nisab.

The details of deducting debt from wealth and how to pay zakat on salary (acquired wealth) have been mentioned in previous fatwas.

There is no zakat on a taxi share as long as it is not intended for trade. Zakat becomes obligatory on the profit generated from it if it reaches the nisab and a full year passes over it.

As for shares, the method of their zakat has been detailed in a previous fatwa. Shares that cannot be disposed of (are inaccessible) are subject to zakat upon their retrieval for the past years.

The intention to marry or to save money for it does not prevent the obligation of zakat.
