One afflicted with urinary incontinence ( سلس البول) should perform ablution ( الوضوء) for each obligatory prayer after washing the affected area and binding it, and should try to prevent urine leakage as much as possible. The leakage of urine during ablution or prayer does not invalidate them, based on the hadith of Umm Salamah concerning the woman with prolonged vaginal bleeding ( المستحاضة): "She should bathe, then tie a cloth firmly, and then pray." The preponderant opinion is that which Ibn Qudamah adopted.
