What is the evil eye, what are its causes, what are its limits and capabilities, and how can one avoid it and recover from it? Is the hadith that says it "makes the camel enter the pot and the person enter the grave, and that most of the inhabitants of the graves are due to the evil eye" authentic? And what should a person do if they experience pain in their body after being jested with by someone known for the evil eye, who told them, "You will be afflicted with harm in a specific place in my body"? And if they give him what he requested, will the evil eye be removed? How should one deal with this person, and what is his ruling in Islam? Is it true that the evil eye does not disappear except with the death of its possessor?

Everything that occurs in the universe is by Allah's decree. The believer lives with certainty in Allah, recalling His words: "Say: Nothing will befall us except what Allah has decreed for us." Allah has given the evil eye an effect, by His permission, as indicated by Quranic verses and Prophetic traditions. The evil eye is a gaze of admiration mixed with envy from a malevolent nature, which causes harm to the one gazed upon, and can even lead to their death or affliction. The evil eye is the prevalent cause of many human ailments after Allah's decree, as stated in the Hadith: "The evil eye can send a man to the grave and a camel to the cooking pot." The treatment for the evil eye is through Ruqyah Shariah (Islamic exorcism). And whoever knows that they are an inflictor of the evil eye should realize that what they are doing is dangerous. Scholars have obligated upon such a person either compensation or retribution if this act is repeated, so let them repent to Allah and cease this action. As for how to deal with it, it is by relying on Allah and knowing that what was destined to befall a person would not miss them, and what was destined to miss them would not befall them. It is not true that the evil eye only ceases when its inflictor dies.
