Is it permissible to ask the one slandered for forgiveness for the slander—without informing him of the reason—in order to absolve oneself of the slander, and to apply this principle to all other injustices?

"The rights of people are not waived merely by seeking prayers for forgiveness. Rather, one must seek their permission and forgiveness, unless informing them would cause tribulation. Therefore, whoever has slandered someone should mention them positively in the places where they slandered them, pray for them frequently, and turn to Allah to make that person pleased with them. They should also remember the Hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: 'Whoever has wronged his brother concerning his honor or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today before there will be no dinar or dirham. If he has good deeds, an amount equivalent to his wrongdoing will be taken from them. If he has no good deeds, some of the wronged person's sins will be taken and added to his burden.'"
