What is the religious ruling regarding a man marrying a woman who exhibits disarray and indifference, divulges others' secrets, and denies a previous relationship she had with another man before marriage? And is his wife considered divorced if he swore not to see pictures proving that relationship, but then saw them?
It is impermissible to reveal the secrets of others, especially the secrets of spouses. Both the man and the woman who disclose to others the secret of their intimacy are sinful. It has been reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, among the worst people in station before Allah on the Day of Resurrection is a man who has intercourse with his wife and she with him, then he spreads her secret." As for a man swearing an oath of divorce upon his wife if he sees her pictures with another person, the divorce takes effect the moment he sees the pictures. We advise this husband to conceal his wife's fault and call her to repentance. He should be patient and guide her towards good morals.
