Is it possible to dedicate good deeds to the deceased, and do they actually reach them?

The preponderant view is that the reward for physical acts of worship reaches the deceased, based on the statement of Imam Ahmad: "Everything good reaches the deceased due to the texts mentioned concerning it." It is permissible to supplicate by dedicating the reward of unspecified deeds to the deceased, as mentioned by Ibn Muflih. However, if you were to initially intend righteous deeds for your father, that would be better.
