What is the ruling on receiving financial entitlements from the state after leaving work at the Tax Authority, and what is the ruling on the money the questioner received before knowing the impermissibility of the work, and is it permissible for him to return to this work with the intention of alleviating people's burdens?

The state is permitted to impose taxes on citizens to provide necessary services, provided that the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal) has been exhausted. Otherwise, imposing them would be religiously forbidden. It is not permissible to work in tax departments that operate under laws contrary to Islamic law, based on Allah’s saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." In such a case, the salary would be unlawful. However, there is no objection to working in tax agencies if doing so alleviates the burden on people, in accordance with the principle: "Harm is to be removed."
