Is it permissible to supplicate for a pregnant woman that she be blessed with a daughter?

It is preferable for a person to ask their Lord for righteous offspring in general, based on the verse: (Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us leaders for the righteous). If a mother yearns to ask for a girl or a boy, she should couple her supplication with a request for righteousness, such as saying: "O Allah, I ask You for a believing, righteous daughter who will be a comfort to my eyes." There is no harm in supplicating for her to be blessed with a righteous daughter who will assist her in obeying Allah.
