Is it permissible to supplicate for a male child when one already has three daughters?

It is permissible to ask Allah Almighty for a righteous male child, just as Sulayman (peace be upon him) wished for youths to strive in the way of Allah, and Zakariya (peace be upon him) supplicated to his Lord, saying: "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors." And among the supplications of the servants of the Most Merciful is: "Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring comfort to our eyes." It must be known that Allah grants males and females according to His wisdom, and the believer must be content with Allah's decree, for the presence of daughters is a great blessing and favor.
