There is no objection to delaying the 'Aqiqah (sacrificial offering for a newborn) if one is able to perform it. It is permissible to appoint another person to slaughter the animal in a country other than the one of residence, for a valid reason. It is best to sacrifice two sheep for a male child and one sheep for a female child. One sheep suffices for a male child, but one sheep does not suffice for two children. The 'Aqiqah is valid with sheep, whether they are lamb or goat. No part of its meat or skin should be sold. It is recommended to name the newborn on the seventh day, and it is permissible to name them after birth and before the seventh day.
