Is seeking forgiveness after ablution specific to the defects that occurred in it, or is it a general seeking of forgiveness for all sins?

Seeking forgiveness is one of the recommended remembrances (adhkar) after ablution. The wisdom behind it is the appropriateness of mentioning the purification of the inner self through Tawhid (monotheism) and repentance, following the purification of the outer self through ablution. When both purifications are combined, the servant becomes fit to approach God. Seeking forgiveness after acts of worship in general serves to complete any deficiencies that might have occurred in them, and to elevate the servant from a lower to a higher and more complete station.
