Is this idea considered permissible in the religion, or does it dismantle the legacy of brotherhood?

A father has the right to give his children whatever he wishes from his wealth, provided he is of sound health and full discretion. He must be fair in his giving, and it is not permissible to prefer some of them over others, unless there is a legitimate reason, or if the rest of the children consent to it.
