Is it permissible for a father to favor one of his children in giving due to their filial piety and distinction?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A father must be just among his children in giving gifts and not prefer some over others, even if one of them is more righteous or better, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Fear Allah and be just among your children." The gift and inheritance among them must be according to the Sharia, so a male receives the equivalent of the share of two females. It is permissible to prefer some over others if the mature children allow it with clear and genuine consent, not out of flattery or fear.
