The answer

It is permissible to make up the post-noon (Dhuhr) prayer after the time for Asr begins, whether it was missed due to an excuse or without one. This is the view of Ibn Umar, Ata, Tawus, Al-Qasim bin Muhammad, Al-Shafi'i in his new , and Ahmad. The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself did this, as he made up the two rak'ahs that come after Dhuhr. For this reason, Al-Bukhari titled a chapter: "Chapter: What is prayed after Asr from missed prayers and the like." As for the of Umm Salama, which states: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do we make them up if they are missed?' He said: 'No'," this addition is weak.
