Is it necessary to smell urine to ensure its discharge when a wet sensation is felt?

The effective remedy for waswasah (obsessive whispering) is to completely disregard it and not succumb to it. Ibn Hajar al-Haytami mentioned that the cure for waswasah is to wholly ignore it. Whoever pays no attention to it will be rid of it in a short time, but whoever listens to it will find it increasing until it drives them to the point of madness. This is supported by what is stated in the Two Sahihs: that whoever is afflicted with waswasah should seek refuge in Allah and desist from it. It is also advisable to sprinkle the place and undergarments with water to cut off the waswas without dwelling on it.
