Is it permissible to learn dream interpretation in order to understand the visions a Muslim sees?

Knowledge of dream interpretation is not a prerequisite for Islamic legal scholarship (al-ilm al-shar'i). It relies on understanding circumstances, times, and sagacity, and varies according to people's conditions and eras. Therefore, one should not rely solely on books of interpretation without the insight of the interpreter. If one does not possess the aptitude for dream interpretation, then it is better to turn to learning the Islamic legal sciences.
