Is bathing every seven days obligatory, and is it permissible to perform ghusl with the intention of obligation due to the passing of seven days during menstruation?

Scholars have differed concerning the desirability of performing the Friday ghusl for those who do not attend it, such as a menstruating woman. The majority of jurists hold that it is not a Sunnah, let alone obligatory, because it is prescribed for those who wish to attend the Friday prayer to achieve cleanliness, and this is not mentioned for those who do not intend to attend. Conversely, the Zahiris held it to be obligatory upon every legally responsible individual, even menstruating and post-natal women, but this is a weak opinion.

However, if a menstruating woman performs ghusl on Friday for cleanliness, to attain virtue, or to resolve the differing opinions, there is no harm in that.
