Who is Ibn Hibban?

Muhammad ibn Hibban al-Busti, whose kunya was Abu Hatim al-Tamimi, was one of the traveling imams and excellent authors. He was knowledgeable in medicine, astronomy, and various sciences. He authored "Al-Musnad Al-Sahih," "Al-Tarikh," "Al-Dhu'afa'," and many other books. He served as a judge in Samarqand for a long period, then as a judge in Nasa, and he passed away in Bust in Shawwal of the year 354 AH, at the age of eighty. He was a reliable, well-established Imam and a definitive authority, and one of the vessels of knowledge in Hadith, Fiqh, language, admonition, and other fields. Some critics mentioned that his Sahih is more authentic than Sunan Ibn Majah.
