What is the ruling on retracting the intention to kill or steal after forming the intention?
"The resolve to commit a sin and the intention to do so is a sin. If a servant refrains from it seeking God's pleasure after having decided to do it, then their action is commendable in sharia and a good deed is written for them, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'And whoever intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, Allah writes it down as a complete good deed.'"
