Is it permissible to shorten the waiting period (iddah) by using medications to accelerate menstruation?

A woman is permitted to take medication to induce menstruation for the purpose of shortening the waiting period (iddah), provided that this is not in the case of a revocable divorce (talaq raj'i), as doing so would harm the husband's right to reconcile. Scholars have differed regarding the counting of menstruation induced by medication. Some stipulate that a specific period must pass between the two menstrual cycles, while others do not stipulate this, as long as the blood possesses the characteristics of menstrual blood.
