Is it permissible to prevent one's wife from visiting her family, and to prevent oneself from visiting one's own family, in order to avoid problems between the mother and the wife?

The Shariah calls for compassion and communication between relatives and forbids mutual hatred. Therefore, problems between the mother and the wife should be resolved without preventing the wife from visiting her mother, if possible. If there is no other solution, then there is no harm in preventing her, provided that communication that negates forbidden abandonment remains, and clarifying that this solution is legitimate for preserving hearts. There is no reason to refrain from visiting the wife's family.
