What is the ruling on hanging photographic or hand-drawn (colored or uncolored) pictures of the homeowners in their house, and what is the ruling on video recording?

Photography is of three types: 1. Sculpting living beings: This is forbidden by Islamic law, and the evidence for this includes prophetic hadiths such as: "The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection are the sculptors." 2. Drawing living beings by hand in a non-sculptural form: The majority of scholars prohibit this, as it falls under the general category of photography that imitates Allah's creation. 3. Capturing shadows (photography with a camera or video): Scholars have differed on this, and the preponderant opinion is that it is permissible unless it involves something forbidden, such as the image of a woman displaying her adornments, or if it is done with the intention of glorification. It is permissible if there is a legitimate benefit associated with it. However, if there is no benefit associated with it, it is preferable to avoid it to steer clear of dispute.

As for hanging photographic images, it is safer to avoid it. Photographing inanimate objects such as trees and stones is permissible.
