Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was asked about it and he replied that it is a fabricated, concocted Hadith, not found in any of the reliable books of Muslims. He stated that it is not permissible for anyone who knows that it is a lie against the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to narrate it. He mentioned that it contains much discourse collected from prophetic narrations; thus, whoever lied and concocted it gathered it from Hadiths, some of which are false and some are true. Therefore, it contains some correct words, but the origin of the Hadith, with Iblis coming to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in the presence of his companions and questioning him, is a fabricated lie that no Muslim scholar has transmitted.
