Is the right to procreate as much a wife’s right as it is a husband’s? What is the evidence for this from the Qur’an and Sunnah? Is the wife sinful if she falsely informs her husband of incorrect ovulation dates so that he stops using coitus interruptus?

Bearing children is the most important purpose of marriage, and it is a common right for both spouses. Scholars have deduced this from what Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade a man from practicing coitus interruptus with a free woman unless with her permission, because it deprives her of a child, which is her right. It is permissible for the wife to inform her husband of what would make him abandon coitus interruptus, even if it is against his desire, provided that she avoids outright lying and uses allusive and indirect speech.
