Is it permissible to eat animals or plants that have undergone genetic modification (GMO)?

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are defined as the controlled alteration of genetic traits in living organisms to increase their benefit. However, research indicates their risks to humanity, such as allergic diseases, crop toxicity, and antibiotic resistance. Genetic engineering may harm modified plants, as gene transfer can weaken their natural immunity or render them toxic. Significant controversy has arisen around this project, and the United Nations has affirmed the right of countries to regulate the import of these foods, mandating their labeling. Based on proven harm, consuming these foods is impermissible, in accordance with the noble Hadith (definition): "There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm," and Allah Almighty's saying: ﴿Say, "I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to a consumer who eats it, except that it be a dead animal."﴾
