Which has greater reward: sponsoring orphans or helping a poor brother?

Sponsoring orphans carries immense reward, but charity given to a needy brother is superior, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Charity given to a poor person is a charity, and to a relative, it is two: charity and upholding ties of kinship." This is the general principle, unless the situation necessitates prioritizing a distant orphan due to their extreme need. Furthermore, the financial support of a poor brother is obligatory upon his well-off brother.
