Is the wife's sitting in the living room of the house with a non-mahram man, in the presence of another maid, while her husband is sleeping in another room, considered an unlawful "private seclusion" (khalwa muharramah) in Sharia? Is the wife sinful for it? And is the husband sinful for his violent reaction, his cursing, insulting, and beating his wife in this situation?

Among the most important objectives of Islam in legislating marriage is family stability, which is achieved through good companionship. Both spouses must know their rights and fulfill them appropriately. The husband erred by cursing and hitting, while the wife erred by not obeying her husband in what is right, and her obedience to him takes precedence over obedience to her parents. The current imperative is to act rationally and not leave the door open for Satan to disperse the family. A man being in seclusion with two women is not permissible absolutely, nor is it absolutely forbidden; rather, it has its legitimate restrictions, provided that temptation and suspicion are absent.
