Is a divorced woman her own guardian when it comes to marriage?

The majority of scholars hold that a woman's marriage (whether she is a virgin or previously married) is not valid without the permission of her guardian (wali), citing the hadith: "Any woman who marries without the permission of her guardian, her marriage is invalid." Abu Hanifa, however, disagreed, permitting a woman to marry herself without her guardian's permission. The guardian marries the woman with her consent, and the marriage is valid if a Sharia judge rules it to be so, or if both parties adhere to the Hanafi school of thought.
