What is the ruling on one who threw the Jamrat al-Aqaba with eight pebbles, four of them individually, with a takbir for each pebble, and four of them grouped, such that he threw two pebbles with one takbir and then another two pebbles with another takbir, even though he knows the correct method of throwing?

The Shafi'is and Hanbalis held that whoever misses three pebbles or more owes a sacrifice (dam), and for anything less than that, a charitable donation (sadaqa) of one mudd for each pebble, and this is the most preponderant view.

Malik said: Whoever misses one pebble owes the sacrifice of a sheep, and whoever misses a whole pillar (jamra) or all the pillars owes a camel (badana).

Abu Hanifa said: A sacrifice (dam) is only obligatory for missing the Jamrat al-Aqaba or all the pillars, and for anything less than that, a charitable donation (sadaqa) of half a sa' for each pebble.

Therefore, whoever misses one throw owes one mudd.
