What is the meaning of Al-Wala' and Al-Bara' according to the righteous predecessors (Salaf Salih), and how can they be realized?

Al-Wala' wal-Bara' (Loyalty and Disavowal) is one of the fundamentals of religion. It means showing loyalty to Muslims, loving them, and loving the religion, and detesting disbelievers, disavowing them, their actions, their deities, and their customs. It also means loving a disobedient believer to the extent of his obedience and hating him to the extent of his disobedience.

Among the manifestations of loyalty to disbelievers are: imitating them, aiding them against Muslims, seeking their help, participating in their festivals, adopting their names, and seeking forgiveness for them.

Among the manifestations of loyalty to believers are: supporting and assisting them, feeling their pain, advising them, respecting and honoring them, being with them in hardship and ease, visiting them, and praying for them and seeking forgiveness for them.
