Are there days and years in Paradise, and do its inhabitants perceive them?

Paradise has no days or nights, no sun or moon; rather, it is perpetual light. The people of Paradise know the measure of night and day by the lowering of veils and the closing of doors for night, and the raising of veils and the opening of doors for day, as stated in the exegeses of Al-Tabari and Al-Qurtubi concerning the verse: "And for them therein is their provision morning and afternoon." According to the hadith (definition) narrated by Aban from Al-Hasan (definition) and Abu Qilabah, the Prophet, peace be upon him, was asked if there was night in Paradise. He replied that there is no night, but only light and illumination, and that the coming of morning and afternoon signifies the prayer times in this world that were bestowed upon them by Allah Almighty, and the angels greet them with peace.
