Does a wife become a stranger to her husband if the husband believes that an innovative divorce (talaq bid'i) does not take effect, while the wife believes the opposite, and the husband adheres to his opinion after the 'iddah (waiting period) has ended? And if the spouses have followed someone who says that innovative divorce does not take effect, is it permissible for them to continue doing so despite the wife's misgivings and her fears of the possibility of committingzina? And is her situation similar to that of the questioner mentioned in Fatwa 207349?

The fatwa mentioned pertains to a woman divorced irrevocably (three pronouncements). As for a revocable divorce, merely the husband's sexual intercourse with his wife during her waiting period (iddah) effects the return (raj'ah), even if the husband did not intend it. In Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Al-Hasan said: "If he had intercourse with her during the iddah, then his intercourse with her is a return." There is no harm in following some scholars, and the questioner should rest assured and not pay attention to whispers (waswas), and seek Allah's help to get rid of them.
