Parents are not permitted to prevent their son from marrying a girl of good religion and character without a clear reason, nor are they allowed to abuse their right to filial piety and obedience. It is advisable to be patient and try to convince them through relatives. If they do not agree, and if leaving the girl would cause severe harm to the son, he may marry her without their consent, as their position is incorrect. A mature, sane man is not subject to anyone's guardianship in marriage. After marriage, efforts must be made to appease the parents.
