Is it Islamically permissible for a mother to refuse her son's marriage to a Muslim girl without a fundamental reason?

Parents do not have the right to prevent their child from marrying someone they desire if she is religious and of good character. The child is not obligated to obey them in marrying someone they do not want, or someone who lacks religion or good character. However, the child should be deliberate in their choice and benefit from their parents' experience.
