Is an unmarried working woman who lives with her family obligated to perform household chores according to Sharia, and is she considered sinful if she refrains from doing so?

Filial piety is a great virtue, and a daughter's assistance to her mother in household chores is obligatory if the mother is in need, as it is part of the divinely commanded acts of piety. It is stated in the Fiqh Encyclopedia that a child serving their parent is permissible without dispute; indeed, it becomes obligatory when there is a need. Among the rights of parents is to be served if they are in need. A daughter must assist her mother if the mother is in need and there is no harm to the daughter, whether the mother asks for help or not. Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that a person is obliged to obey their parents in matters that benefit them and cause no harm to the child. It is advisable to persuade the mother to bring someone to help her with household chores when she is overwhelmed with tasks.
