Did the addition of "Kareem" (Generous) in Imam al-Albani's "Sahih al-Tirmidhi" escape him, or is it considered authentic by him? And if it is not established as authentic by him, why did he not point out that it is an addition in "Sahih al-Tirmidhi"?

Shaykh Al-Albani, like other scholars, is correct at times and mistaken at others. He is rewarded for his ijtihad (independent reasoning). He overlooked the need to point out the error of adding the word "kareem" (generous/noble) in the supplication for Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) in the book "Sahih at-Tirmidhi."

However, he did draw attention to this in "Silsilat al-Ahadith as-Sahiha," noting that it has no basis in the early sources and that it might have been inserted by some scribes or printers.

Some researchers consider this a retraction by Al-Albani from his previous authentication. It is most likely that this addition crept into common speech from some copies of hadith books and not from the narrations themselves. Many scholars have transmitted it in their books without a chain of narration.

The established text in dozens of authenticated books is: (O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me) without the addition of "kareem."
