Does one who adopts the view that isbal (letting one's garment hang below the ankles) is makruh (disliked) unless done out of pride, sin, despite the widespread opinion that it diminishes the reward of prayer?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that trailing a garment (isbal) is not forbidden if it is not done out of arrogance, though they consider it disliked and recommend shortening the garment. There is another view that considers isbal absolutely forbidden, even if not done out of arrogance, as it has been established that merely trailing the garment itself is considered arrogance. The emphasis on avoiding isbal in prayer is further strengthened to avoid the dispute of those who deem such prayers invalid. As for following the opinions of scholars in disputed matters, a layperson should follow what seems most sound to them from the opinions of muftis after comparing them. There is no harm in acting upon the opinion of one who does not forbid isbal, as long as it is not one's consistent habit to seek out concessions.
