What is the ruling on hunting with a trap if the prey is found dead in it?

It is permissible to hunt wild animals for benefit, provided that they are outside the Haram (sacred precinct) and that the hunter is not in a state of ihram (ritual consecration). For it to be permissible to eat them, they must be slaughtered by one of three methods: ritual slaughter (dhabh), by a sharp weapon, or by a trained animal. As for hunting with a trap or similar means, it is not permissible to eat the game if it is found dead, and it must be ritually slaughtered if it is found alive.
