Are the intrusive thoughts of good deeds during prayer, such as praising Allah and praying upon returning home, considered to be from Satan?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Humility (khushu') in prayer is its fruit and benefit. The contemplation by the worshipper of a matter related to the Afterlife, such as performing tasbeeh (glorification) after prayer, is not disliked by some Malikis. However, Shafi'is hold that one should not contemplate a matter related to the Afterlife during prayer. Satan may also whisper about acts of obedience if his intention is to corrupt the act of obedience one is currently engaged in, such as distracting the worshipper from his prayer by whispering about acts of obedience he will perform afterwards.
