It is permissible to give money (gold or otherwise) to help someone get married if they are unable to cover the usual costs without extravagance, because someone who is unable to marry is considered among the poor who are entitled to , in accordance with the Almighty's saying: ﴿And let those who find not the financial means for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah enriches them out of His bounty﴾ [An-Nur: 33], and His saying: ﴿Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy﴾ [At-: 60].
