Is a woman who miscarried in the fourth month due to a great effort, the consequences of which she did not anticipate, required to fast two consecutive months as expiation for accidental killing, and what should she do if she menstruates during the fasting period?

If a woman's efforts lead to her miscarriage without her prior knowledge of the potential harm, then her aqila (male relatives responsible for blood money) must pay the diyat ghurra (blood money for a fetus), which is the value of a male or female slave, estimated at one-tenth of the mother's diyah (blood money). This is incumbent upon the aqila according to the Hanafis and Shafi'is, upon the perpetrator's wealth according to the Malikis, and upon the aqila or the perpetrator's wealth according to the Hanbalis, depending on the case. Additionally, the woman must offer expiation for unintentional killing (kaffarat al-qatli al-khata’), which is the freeing of a slave. If she is unable to do so, then she must fast for two consecutive months. If she menstruates during the fasting period, she breaks her fast and completes it after her menstruation ceases.
